STATE OF WASHINGTON
OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR
Greetings from the Governor
As governor of the state of Washington, I am pleased to offer my enthusiastic support to Executive Director Mario and the Eastside Business Association. I applaud The EBA for providing a valuable community resource, which enables patrons to seek out local businesses and organizations that actively celebrate the richness of our shared diversity.
Washington State is a unique blend of many cultures, languages, and traditions. Now and in the future, we must work together for a greater understanding between individuals from different backgrounds. Each of us owes a debt of gratitude to groups like the EBA that help to foster unity, cooperation and understanding among all people.
I am pleased that EBA is committed to supporting youth at risk as well as the Eastside business community. Education is the great equalizer in our society. Regardless of our gender, race, sexual orientation, or income, a good education places all of us on a more level playing field. Therefore, it is vital that we provide the best possible opportunities for our youth. Through the generosity of its members, EBA is creating hope in many young lives.
Congratulations and keep up the good work,
Dear EBA Members & Guests,
My name is Bryan Fosmark, and I am the Director of Operations for United General Contractors & Washington Lawns. I am considered by some to be a leading industry expert in both remodel & landscape construction/design. Our companies got involved with the Eastside Business Association back in May of 2011. Since we joined the EBA, our companies have continued their growth on the Eastside thanks in large part to the EBA members and Mario Morales. The events the EBA has hosted, along with the community and business environment it fosters, have allowed us great exposure on the Eastside and elsewhere in Washington.
By getting involved on a very real level (donating time/materials, sponsoring events, coming to the events, working to gain trust/respect, helping those in need, etc) Washington Lawns & United General Contractors have been able to leverage the EBA in many many ways. The most effective form of marketing for us is word of mouth. Mario & the EBA members have been very supportive of our companies, and getting the word out. Week after week, people continue to flock to us for all their contracting needs. Month after month the support continues to pour in, and we continue to service our client’s most pressing needs.
By becoming corporate sponsors, the EBA has given UGC & Washington Lawns an even greater presence both online, and in print. Businesses who decide to partner up with the EBA and use the tools/opportunities provided them through the organization, have a very real chance of increasing both brand recognition & their bottom line. I would suggest to any business owner serious about growing their business to take a look at the EBA.
For those businesses a part of the EBA, who have not seen the same success here as we have, don’t get discouraged. Be honest with yourself, and really work the system. You will get out that which you put in here. Don’t expect things to happen overnight, but over time with enough effort you too will see the positive results you are looking for at the EBA!
“Mario made me feel at home immediately as I entered the EBA meeting for the first time. He showed genuine interest in getting to know me and my business. He introduced me to the members which helped me feel at home and part of the group.
Mario is passionate about EBA’s mission for business owners to come together and create relationships while giving back to the community. I joined EBA because of the example Mario sets for the group, the value he places on relationships and the nonprofit support EBA provides..”
Dear Fellow EBA Members:
I am proud of my membership in the Eastside Business Association. I am also appreciative of the work the EBA does in fostering a spirited business community throughout Kirkland and the Eastside, and commend you on your leadership in developing and advocating for the sound business practices essential to the positive face of commerce on the Eastside. The Association’s remarkable growth demonstrates the growing participation the business community has in our community. I wish the organization continued good success for the future!
Dear Business Association Members:The Eastside Business Association has made great strides with a membership of over 300 in just the 4 years it has existed. Your focus on a business ethics pledge for local, small businesses is of great value to our community.
Congratulations on publishing your new 2008-2009 guide and directory. As your County Council representative for and the greater Eastside, I am pleased to see how helpful this guide will be not only to new residents in the area but also to linking all residents to committed local businesses.

I am very pleased that I joined The Eastside Business Association last May. Your frequent gatherings have provided many business opportunities for me to pursue. Actually, I know that I have made at least one significant ‘connection’ at every event I’ve attended. Also, everybody is so helpful and friendly! Again, I’m glad I joined! Thank you!
Thank you so much for all the opportunities & doors that you continually open for me with my business and the EBA. I as so proud of everything the EBA is accomplishing and very grateful to be such an active part of the wonderful adventure that you have started.
All my best,

You and the EBA have a true talent for bringing together great people & I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting and working with them. I know that this will definitely be one of the best years for many of us & the beginning of more fantastic years to come because of the hard work, dedication and smiling faces of the EBA Board and staff.
Dear Mario A.,
I’ve written this recommendation of your work to share with other LinkedIn users.
Details of the Recommendation: “In today’s world networking is the key to expanding your business, but getting to know local business owners can be overwhelming and sometimes uncomfortable. When I met Mario he made me feel important (even as a sales rep) and introduced me to all his members. I have been to many networking, and never did I feel so welcomed and appreciated for participating than with the EBA. The EBA and Mario are truly family and I have generated many great leads and relationships from being a member.
Thank you for bringing the fun back into networking Mario, we appreciate you!!

I would like to thank everyone on the board of EBA, and a special thanks to Mario and Robert who gave me the opportunity to get to know all of you. It was my pleasure and honor to work with you and be a part of an organization that was able to accomplish so much in so little time and with minimal resources.Thank you again and I hope that all of us can still keep in contact.
Thank you very much for inviting me to your association. It was so impressive and you have great people in your group. I look forward to attending next event.
Yours in health,
Jyun Shimizu, D.Ac.,L.Ac.
I am so grateful for the friends and business contacts I have made through my association with the Eastside Business Association. I also appreciate new business that has come my way as a result of the many relationships I have built by participating in EBAs weekly and monthly events. Because of my heavy travel schedule, a more regimented networking group with attendance requirements would not work for me. I appreciate that you do not take attendance, and that EBA offers events four days of the week and in a range of geographic locations.
Marisol from Mixtura called me last night and we’re talking about starting something in the fall. She wants a weekly commitment. I am sure we can work something out.
Thanks again for the follow-up and lead. You’re the best!

I thought it was great time to get to know people better on a more personal basis. Thank you for organizing the breakfast.
Thanks for the referral. We appreciate it!
I am enthusiastic about getting EBA members more involved in what we do here. I am also excited to see the impact that the donations from the vehicle program could have our on programs.
Thanks again Mario! We love the EBA!

Thank you for introducing the Moss Bay Neighborhood to EBA last night. The Kirkland Business Association sounds like a valuable organization for Kirkland. We all benefit from a strong local business community. Please add us to your email list of supporters and we will promote your events and causes to our neighborhood at our meetings and on our web site.

Sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye! It sure was a great event for us; I hope your group enjoyed it as well. I think this a going to be dynamite organization to belong to; the enthusiasm and energy are amazing! We’re pretty excited about being part of its founding; thank you so much for the VERY nice framed certificate! And Lani was very pleased with the response following the talent; she is very deservedly proud of the organization. Thanks again for letting us in on the ground floor! We look forward to going forward and doing great things!
Thanks for sponsoring a great event last night- it is a lot of effort to launch a new venture on top of what you are already doing. I am glad that I joined last night as I think the connections made through this group will be very fulfilling.
I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how excited I am to be a part of the Mentor Program AND how truly honored I feel that you considered me to be a part of this great group of people that you’ve gathered.
I was so impressed at last weeks meeting. You are truly an influential force & I’m excited to have re-connected again! You are developing EBA into something BIG, but that’s Mario for ya! I’m so happy and so proud to be a part of all this that you are working on. Let me know if you ever need my help.

Thank you for the work you do with the youth of our area. I work with a couple different youth programs through Antioch Bible Church in the Redmond/Kirkland area myself and can appreciate the dedication it takes to be so involved in such kid’s groups. Thank you for taking the time to help and Support the Kirkland Community!
